As the Conference Board of Canada states in its 2008 study, “Culture industries bring people together locally, globally, and virtually, and play an important social role, helping to bridge large geographical distances and create communities of interest. Culture industries help to raise people’s awareness of cultural distinctiveness and to establish common cultural connections.”
